NFL Week 2 Recap & Week 3 Preview: Plus Tush Push

🏈 NFL Week 2 Recap & Week 3 Preview: Tush Push – Yes, We’re Going There

Week 3 is here, and things are already getting wild in the NFL. We’ve got surprise 2-0 teams, heartbreaking losses, and yes — we’re going there — the tush push. Like it or not, it’s become one of the biggest conversations in football, and I’ve got thoughts. As always, I’m zeroing in on “my teams” — the Chiefs, Lions, Steelers, Commanders, and Raiders — with one bonus matchup to round it out. Let’s dive in. If you’re new here, this is what we had to say about the NFL last week, NFL Week 1 Recap & Week 2 Preview: Minus Spit-gate . So let’s focus: NFL Week 2 Recap & Week 3 Preview

🏹 Chiefs @ Eagles

This one was supposed to be the game of the week, and it lived up to the hype. The Chiefs bounced back from their stumble in Brazil, but what everyone wants to talk about is the Eagles’ favorite play: the tush push.

So let’s talk about it.

Now, I’ll admit it: I’m not an Eagles fan. But I am a fan of standout players, and Jalen Hurts is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league. His throws, his runs, the way he turns nothing into something — that’s the kind of football that keeps you glued to the screen. Also I want to love Saquon Barkley, but I just can’t for some reason. It’s probably jealousy, really.

Which is why I struggle with the tush push. Do I get that it works? Absolutely. Do I think it’s smart football? Sure. But is it exciting? No. Watching 2,000 pounds of humanity push the ball forward one yard feels more like rugby than the NFL. And if I were the Eagles, I don’t know that I’d want to go down in history as that team — the one that could almost always get a yard, but not with skill, not with flair, just with a shove.

Hurts is too good to be defined by that play. Give me the deep throws, the rollouts, the highlight reels — that’s football. The tush push? It’s effective, but it’s just not fun.

🦁 Lions vs. Bears

The Lions proved once again they’re the kings of the beasts, and some people even accused them of padding the score. To which I say: what the f*** is that ridiculousness?

We’ve seen this debate before — like when the Canadian Women’s Hockey Olympic Team gets criticized for winning too hard. Excuse me? The whole point is to win, and if you can win big, even better. Don’t like it? Play better.

So go Lions. Keep winning, keep scoring, and keep roaring.

⚒ Steelers vs. Seahawks

This one hurt — and not in a “hard-fought classic” kind of way. The Steelers came out flat, and our QB1 threw a couple of unfortunate interceptions that turned the tide. It was messy, it was disappointing, and it wasn’t the team we wanted to see.

Still, I’m not giving up. The defense showed flashes, and there’s enough talent here to bounce back. I’m still rooting hard for this team, because when Pittsburgh plays its brand of smash-mouth football, they’re tough to beat. Week 2 just wasn’t it.

🪖 Commanders vs. Packers

Not. At. All. The outcome I expected. I believed in my heart of hearts that the Commanders would dominate this game. Instead, the Packers rolled — and now they’re sitting at 2-0.

Honestly? I can’t be the only one surprised by this. Green Bay is suddenly looking scary, especially with Micah Parsons wreaking havoc on defense. Meanwhile, Washington looked unsteady, and that’s not what I thought we’d see. Commanders fans, I feel you — this one stings.

☠ Raiders @ Chargers

This one… I almost don’t want to talk about. The Raiders had chances, but in the end, it was a heartbreaker. The Chargers came out of Week 2 at 2-0, which is not what I had on my bingo card for September.

It’s one of those losses where you just want to move on and not dwell. So that’s what I’ll do. Raiders, let’s regroup and come back stronger.

✨ That’s the Week 2 recap — full of surprises, disappointments, and a whole lot of “didn’t see that coming.”

🔮 NFL Week 3 Preview: What to Watch

Week 2 gave us some heartaches. Let’s see what Week 3 brings NFL 2025 – WEEK 3 Schedule | NFL.com

🏹 Chiefs @ Giants

Kansas City goes on the road for a much-needed rebound. After the stumble in Brazil and the grind against Philly, Mahomes and Kelce need to prove they can get rolling early. The Giants are already juggling quarterback questions, and Arrowhead pride could make this ugly fast if KC shows up sharp.

🦁 Lions @ Ravens

Detroit heads to Baltimore in one of Week 3’s toughest matchups. The Ravens have looked physical and disciplined, while the Lions are flexing as kings of the NFC North. This is the kind of game that tests Detroit’s legitimacy — win here, and nobody can call them pretenders.

⚒ Steelers vs. Patriots

Pittsburgh gets New England at home, and this feels like a chance to reset after that frustrating Seahawks game. Protecting the ball is priority number one. If the Steelers defense shows up like we know it can, they should send the Pats packing.

🪖 Commanders vs. Raiders

Two of “my teams” square off, and I honestly didn’t expect it to feel this unpredictable. The Commanders need Jayden Daniels healthy and composed, while the Raiders are still stinging from last week’s heartbreak. Somebody’s walking away with a season-defining win here.

🦬 Bills @ Dolphins

Since two of my faves are facing off, I’m slotting in a marquee AFC East battle. Buffalo and Miami both have plenty to prove: the Bills want to shake off Week 1’s mess and the Dolphins need to show they’re more than flashes of brilliance. This could be the most fun game of the week.

🎯 Evie’s Picks – Week 2

  • Chiefs @ Giants → Chiefs 🏹
Kansas City steadies the ship on the road. Mahomes makes the difference against an unsettled Giants squad.
  • Lions @ Ravens → Lions 🦁
Detroit proves they’re not just NFC North kings — they can hang with the AFC’s best, too.
  • Steelers vs. Patriots → Steelers ⚒
Pittsburgh’s defense smothers New England, and the offense does just enough to get back on track.
  • Commanders vs. Raiders → Commanders 🪖
Washington leans on Jayden Daniels (assuming he’s healthy) to grind out a tough home win.
  • Bills @ Dolphins → Bills 🦬
Buffalo makes a statement in the AFC East. Josh Allen bounces back with a big performance.

✨ Final Thoughts

Week 3 feels like a turning point. Some teams are trying to prove they’re contenders, others are just trying to stay afloat, and a few are flat-out surprising everyone. Whether it’s the Chiefs steadying themselves, the Lions proving they belong with the big dogs, or the Commanders and Raiders battling for respect, there’s plenty to watch. And hey, if nothing else, we can all agree on one thing: football is never boring.

I’m curious to see if the Colts, Chargers , Packers and the Cardinals can keep shining and if some of those 0 & 2 teams can pull off a win.
