🏈 NFL Week 8 Recap & Week 9 Preview: Chaos is King
By Week 8 the league’s chaos meter is officially broken. The pretenders are slipping. The contenders are flexing. And the internet is once again arguing about which quarterback is overrated, underrated, or secretly elite. Let’s run through Week 8 before looking ahead to what Week 9’s got cooking.
Let’s look back at Week 6 before we move ahead to what’s next.

Chiefs 28 – Commanders 7
Kansas City handled business with no drama required. Mahomes was sharp. The defense was relentless. And the refs didn’t even have to trend this time. The Commanders looked outmatched early and never really recovered. It’s starting to feel like the Chiefs have hit their midseason stride. That’s bad news for everyone else.
Steelers 25 – Packers 35
Pittsburgh fought hard but turnovers told the story. The Steelers’ defense made some noise but their offense sputtered in key moments. The Packers took advantage and found just enough rhythm to pull away late. Not a terrible showing, but not the result the Terrible Towel crew wanted either.
Broncos 44 – Cowboys 24
Denver is cooking again. The offense found its spark and the defense kept Dak & Co. guessing all game long. The Broncos might not be flashy, but they’re disciplined and it’s starting to show in the win column. The Cowboys continue to be the league’s most confusing team. Dominant one week. Disjointed the next.
Bills 40 – Panthers 9
Buffalo reminded everyone why they’re still a top AFC threat. Josh Allen was in total control and the defense barely broke a sweat. The Panthers looked completely overwhelmed. They were just trying to get through the game without further embarrassment.
Giants 20 – Eagles 38
This one hurt. The Giants came out swinging but it went sideways fast. Skateboo left the game with a brutal-looking injury that stopped everyone cold. You never want to see that, no matter who you root for. The Eagles took over after that and the scoreboard shows it, but it was hard to care once Skateboo was carted off. Dart tried to keep the fight alive, but it was just too much.
Buccaneers 23 – Saints 3
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs took care of business with ease. Tampa’s balance on both sides of the ball made this look more like a controlled scrimmage than a division game. Baker’s confidence is contagious and the Saints looked completely lost.
Lions on a bye
As you know, I don’t normally talk about teams when they’re on a bye – a day off is a day off. BUT, I could not share this gem with you. We’re not really surprised that Lions QB is so talented? Are we?
Who knew he could juggle? 😅

🏈 Week 9 Preview
By Week 9 you start to see who’s really built for the grind and who’s just hanging on by the laces. The “refs are crooked” chatter hasn’t died down. The quarterback debates are as spicy as ever. Somehow the AFC looks both wide open and impossible to predict.
Let’s look ahead to the matchups that actually matter.
Chiefs vs Bills
It’s always a show when these two meet. The Chiefs are coming off a statement win and now face a Bills team trying to remind everyone they still belong in the top-tier conversation. Expect fireworks, deep throws, and at least one “was that roughing the passer?” argument that lasts all week.
Steelers vs Colts
Pittsburgh has been playing with heart and grit and that counts for a lot right now. The Colts look like the more polished squad, but never count out the Steelers when the game gets ugly. If they can keep their rhythm going from last week, this could easily turn into one of those quietly epic finishes we love to see.
Lions vs Vikings
The Lions are back from their bye and ready to roar. They’ve had time to reset, refocus, and maybe even get a little healthier. The Vikings are always a wild card, but Detroit looks like the steadier team right now. If they play clean, this could be a convincing return to form.
Broncos vs Texans
Denver is quietly stacking wins and confidence while Houston is still figuring out what kind of team it wants to be. The Texans’ quarterback looks promising but the Broncos’ defense is on a redemption arc. If they keep forcing turnovers this one could tilt orange real fast.
Giants vs 49ers
The Giants need this one. After that heartbreaker last week, morale is fragile but not gone. Dart has been a bright spot even when the scoreboard doesn’t show it. The 49ers are tough, but this might be one of those weeks where grit outshines polish.
Raiders vs Jaguars
Vegas fans deserve something to cheer about. It’s been a rough stretch. The Jaguars are still confusing. Their quarterback has talent, sure, but something about that team just feels off. If the Raiders can establish the run early and keep the energy up, this could be their shot at shaking off the funk.
